The new Elantra will showcase a sleek new-look design for Hyundai, which was given the approval during a recent consumer study where it ranked ahead of key rivals, Hyundai says.
In fact, if you combine sales of the i30 and current Elantra, Hyundai has sold 23,333 small cars so far in 2015, which is actually more than the Mazda 3 hatch and sedan’s combined total of 23,252, and thereby behind only the Corolla (25,323), which reigns as Australia’s top-selling vehicle.
The Hyundai Elantra quickly became one of America’s favorite sedans over the past years, yet the automaker has plans to heavily redesign it. The next generation Elantra-which will be appearing at the next LA Auto Show-has many fans holding their breath. 53 per cent of the Elantra’s body will be made of high-strength steel, and is likely to have 0.27 drag coefficient which adds to its aerodynamics.
Hyundai is putting a big emphasis on electronic driving aids in a bid to fend off stiff competition in the United States and overseas.
The infotainment system in the new Elantra/Avante will support Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone connectivity. The sloped front hood, windshield, and rear end make the new design resemble a smaller Genesis-with a different hexagonal grille.
This transmission is available as standard, but clients can opt for a newly-developed, efficiency-oriented seven-speed gearbox with a dual clutch.
Although this official rendering of the all-new Elantra looks decidedly more realistic than Kia’s new Sportage drawings, we’ll have to wait until the imminent reveal to see if it looks as good as this in the metal.
