Hugh Jackman brings Broadway to Australia

The genesis of the show was Jackman’s 2011 solo show Back on Broadway.

He described the announcement as a “true bucket list moment” and said the show had been in his “head and heart” for 10 years.

Roles in Australian independent films “Paperback Hero” and “Erskineville Kings” were followed by Hollywood successes including “The Prestige”, “The Fountain”, “The X-Men” franchise and its “Wolverine” spinoff.

It will mix medleys of work that Jackman has been directly associated with, as well as tributes to classic musicals.

The eight-date concert tour will kick off in Melbourne on November 24, continuing on to Sydney, Perth, Adelaide and Brisbane.

The forty six-yr-previous stated it had all the time been his intention to deliver the Broadway present to Australia, saying “the top recreation for me was being right here”.

His original Broadway production was one of the few Furness didn’t fall asleep in, he said. It’s every song that I love from most of the shows I’ve been in like Les Miserables or The Boy From Oz, shows I haven’t been in but wanted to be in or maybe will one day.

“Take any city, and add Entertainment Centre, except Rod Laver”, Jackman jokes when asked to name the venues for the tour. Jackman said in a statement.

“I’m an enormous lover of film musicals”, Jackman stated, naming “Singing within the Rain” as the best in that class.

HUGH Jackman is returning home for a national concert tour.

He said the show will have an informal air, with plenty of audience interaction and told potential hecklers to “bring it on”. “It’s everything I love”. “I’ll tell you what it’s like being in my shoes in my career – both on screen and off, growing up”.
