The season remains early, and the Chiefs could absolutely win this week. Lacy suffered the injury to his right ankle in the Packers 27-17 win over the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday night.
There is no timetable for Lacy’s return, but the Packers would likely be smart to play it cautiously with their dominant back. They didn’t have any timeouts remaining, either, which means their only realistic shot at scoring was with a big play. There’s a process that goes on with every player that goes through this, and it’ll be no different with Eddie. Now it comes a tough test at Green Bay with 1-2 staring them in the face.
Lacy injured his right ankle during the 2013 season in a game against Atlanta.
Given the Bears were not expected to be heavyweight contenders in the NFC North coming into the season, things have quickly spiraled downward after only two games. It just isn’t the one he was griping about immediately after the Seahawks lost to Green Bay. Rodgers finished 25-of-33 passing for 249 yards and two touchdowns and a passer rating of 116.9.
Having squandered a big lead in Seattle, the Packers were loath to lie down at Lambeau. Winning teams always have had to deal with opponents looking to chip away at their handiwork. But this was one messy game.
Speaking of 0-2 teams, who had the Ravens and Colts (2 popular pre-season Super Bowl favorites) both being winless going into week 3?
From 2012-13, Raji didn’t have a single sack. Bernhardt thinks Green Bay wins a lot more easily. He’s the best quarterback in the last year. That would have been the greatest thing for talking heads in football history.
Including the postseason, the Packers have won 10 consecutive home games, the third-longest streak of the McCarthy era.
McCarthy’s record in those 91 games is 82-9 (90.1 percent). Jones has been a solid fantasy sleeper for the past two weeks, as he already has three touchdowns this season. He has totaled five touchdown receptions over that span.
That play came near the end of the first half. The two Rodgers then hooked up again for the two-point conversion to make it a 24-17 Packers lead. Seattle has to be begging Chancellor to return, but they also have no reason to give in to his recent holdout after handing him out a brand new contract within the last two years. His potential availability for Week 3 will be known on Thursday.
Tom Silverstein is in his 25th year covering the Green Bay Packers and 30th year with the Journal Sentinel. Dan Zegers graduated from St. Norbert College in De Pere, Wis., and worked for the Packers as an equipment asst.
K Ryan Succop provided the rest of the scoring for Kansas City as he hit four field goals from 19, 32, 46 and 20 yards out.

Aside from the occasional vulture work from fullback John Kuhn, Starks will see the majority of snaps in the Packers’ backfield while Lacy is sidelined.
