Honasan stressed that he prefers to prefer to work behind the scenes and said that will help the United Nationalist Alliance in the upcoming elections. Mr. Binay is one of two declared candidates for the presidency in 2016 who has yet to name a running mate, the other being former Interior Secretary Manuel “Mar” A. Roxas II.
“That is something that will be decided not only by me but by the party as well”, Marcos, a member of the Nacionalista Party, told reporters on Tuesday.
Marcos said he has been approached by intermediaries to talk about being Binay’s running mate, but added that he has yet to decide on it. He has also spoken with Binay only by phone. “I am now the vice president of UNA so anything I do or say must add value to the presidential bid of the Vice President…”
“We have to raise the level of discourse so that it will be platform and program-based then avoid the mudslinging that creates deep wounds that last beyond the elections”, he said.
“That’s { difficult | difficult}to sell. Thus, he said the only thing that could make him run for President is if Poe and Binay are disqualified”, reports Jose Rodel Clapano in The Philippine Star.
