In order to join the rocker fraternity, members had to literally out-drink the current members.
The TiK ToK hit-maker added some much-needed glam to the supergroup – which is made up of Johnny, Alice Cooper and Joe Perry (lead Aerosmith guitarist) – as they braved their first performance at the Roxy Theatre in Hollywood, California.
In any case, befitting a free shake aggregate that guaranteed its name from an Angeleno drinking club of a sure qualification that accumulated at the Rainbow Bar & Grill (situated adjacent to the Roxy) in the “70s-John Lennon, Keith Moon, Harry Nilsson, Cooper, Bernie Taupin and the Monkees” Micky Dolenz were contract Hollywood Vampires individuals-the vibe the previous evening was bar-band happy.
The Hollywood Vampires weren’t the only big stars onstage at their debut show last night, where the guests included Geezer Butler and Tom Morello.
With music luminaries including Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Steven Van Zandt looking on from the VIP section, the night was truly a rock n’ roll spectacle.

Unlike other supergroups who usually need a gig or two to at least become familiar with each other’s tendencies, the chemistry between The Hollywood Vampires was instantaneous. With the show clocking in at barely over an hour, with no encore, fans were understandably left wanting more.
“These are the songs for our dead friends”, Cooper proclaimed during the first break, five songs in. Ditto for surprise guest vocalists Kesha and Perry Farrell, and for Black Sabbath bassist Geezer Butler and drummer Zak Starkey (the Who, Oasis), both of whom sat in last night. (Morello played the guitar with his teeth, prompting Joe Perry, shredding by his side, to actually mouth the word “wow.”) And Jane’s Addiction’s Perry Farrell took on lead vocals for Nilsson’s “Jump Into the Fire”. Ke$ha boldly played the role of Robert Plant on “Whole Lotta Love” and all came out for tunes like “School’s Out” and “Another Brick in the Wall”.
Before he waved goodbye to the crowd before the encore, Cooper got ahold of a mug that appeared to have beer in it. As he lifted it up to take a swig, members of the crowd gasped – but it was one of those prank props that you can find at any mall.
Well, after seeing this we’re certainly glad he changed his mind.
