Also performing with Cooper, Depp and Perry at the shows will be two ex-Guns N’ Roses members – bassist Duff McKagan and drummer Matt Sorum – as well as Cooper’s touring guitarist Tommy Henrickson and longtime Depp collaborator Bruce Witkin on piano and guitar.
According to Billboard, Johnny Depp and friends will open with a set at the famous Sunset Strip club the Roxy in Los Angeles on September 16 followed by a second show in the same location the next night. After the hearing aid fittings, the Hollywood Vampires and Starkey Hearing Foundation will bring a number of individuals to the show so they can hear music for the first time in their lives.
Cooper announced the project in February, confirming that they will perform at the Rock In Rio Festival in Rio de Janeiro on September 24.
The group will launch a self-titled album September eleven that features collaborations with Paul McCartney, Dave Grohl, Joe Walsh, Slash, Brian Johnson and others.
Rolling Stone gave us a tease of the band’s debut album last week.
Unlike some supergroups of the past, Hollywood Vampires isn’t a vanity project or a doomed amalgamation of ego-driven stars.
Proceeds from the album will profit MusiCares, which offers monetary and private help to musicians. In addition, the group has partnered with the Starkey Hearing Foundation to provide more than 150 local people in need with hearing aids. Alice and Johnny were joined by Joe Perry, who is an old friend of both of them, and with producer Bob Ezrin, the recording began: a tribute to the original Hollywood Vampires.
