Ledger and Gyllenhaal in a scene from “Brokeback Mountain“.
Time doesn’t always heal all, but it does teach us some things.
After beefing up for his role in boxing film Southpaw, Jake Gyllenhaal is now taking it easy…with a Greggs sandwich.
This talent is most recently seen in Gyllenhaal’s newest film Southpaw for which he underwent rigorous training to transform his body into that of a champion boxer.
Ten years after the release of Brokeback Mountain, Jake Gyllenhaal reflected this week on working with Heath Ledger on the film and how Ledger’s death in 2008 affected his outlook on life.
Gyllenhaal also recalled the reactions he and Ledger received for being straight actors playing gay roles after they were cast: “It was fascinating, particularly because I don’t think we knew what a success the movie would be, what it would become”.
‘Oh definitely it’s changed, ‘ he says.
He tells Jo Parkerson of Britain’s Magic Radio, “My next stop, I think maybe before Broadway again, or anywhere in New York, will be the West End…”
He added that he thought Justice Kennedy’s decision was “so handsome”, while his mom described it as being “all about love”. ‘And she said it’s all about love. It was an intimate and really scary thing for me and Heath, in particular, to dive into. I think telling stories, and all different stories, is what makes acting so great. “And it was an interesting journey to go on to learn about that world”.
Well, now we know where to find you, Jake, we’ll be sure to say hello by the cheese and onion pasties. It was nominated for Best Picture and won Oscars for director Ang Lee, screenwriters Larry McMurtry and Diana Ossana, and composer Gustavo Santaollala.
