A whistle-blower raising concerns about seniors’ health at a care home in Saskatoon has been fired. The seniors’ care aide worker publicly voiced understaffing concerns about his former workplace earlier this year.
Bowden told reporters months ago that residents at the home were at risk of skin infections because they were left in soiled diapers and bedding for up to 10 hours.
“The termination was with just cause, and we certainly don’t take that lightly”.
Bowden said Saturday that he is working with the union to figure out his options.
“That’s part of the advice we’re going to be seeking to represent our members in the fairest and most fullest way possible”.
Bowden said all but one of the written complaints were submitted after he went to the legislature to speak out.
The SHR put its best investigators on the file, because it felt there was an obligation to ensure the findings were independent and with no interference, Florizone said.
Reporters learned of Bowden’s suspension in April via an email sent by a government source.
“There was no predetermination”.
“This decision was made based on the results of a labour relations investigation where seven of the Region’s policies were alleged to have been violated”, the statement read.
