HBO Now Launches On Amazon’s Fire TV Platform

As reported by TechCrunch, the app appeared for owners of Fire TV devices quietly today, with the update notes simply stating that version 1.0.0 “is now available for Fire TV and Fire TV Stick devices”.

HBO Now, the premium cable channel’s streaming-only option, is now available on the Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick.

For $15/month, the popular app gives users access to all of HBO’s entertainment content via the Internet without requiring a cable or satellite TV subscription.

Watch every series, every season, every episode of HBO’s addictive dramas, hilarious comedies, entertaining movies, thought-provoking documentaries and so much more.

If you’re not already an HBO Now subscriber, a 30-day free trial is available after downloading the app. Both streaming devices, which first and foremost are a showcase for Amazon’s Instant Video platform, are worthy competitors to the likes of the Roku 3, Apple TV, and Google Chromecast.

One major media streaming name that has yet to get HBO Now is Roku.

Why this matters: For now, Android TV remains the only platform that HBO has promised to support, but hasn’t yet.

If you were waiting to sign up for HBO Now until it came to Fire TV products, you’ll have to go through a somewhat-convoluted signup system.
