Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale are divorcing after nearly 13 years of marriage.

Gwen and Gavin are both asking for joint custody of their three children, 9-year-old Kingston, 6-year-old Zuma and 1-year-old Apollo. Bush frontman Rossdale also filed divorce papers at the same time. Both filed their documents at the same time, with Stefani citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split.

The impending divorce is a shock for most fans and Stefani didn’t hint at marriage woes during an interview with Cosmopolitan magazine earlier this year. Online reports the couple confirmed the split (nooooooo!!!) on Monday and released a joint statement.

“We’ve both become more romantic and caring for each other simply because we’ve seen how attractive it is to have come this far together and started a new chapter in our lives”, Gwen, 45, said.

Given the length of the marriage and the fact that Stefani’s net worth is reportedly twice that of her husband’s Rossdale will likely come out on top.

“She continued, “[Gavin’s] on a short tour right now, and he wrote me the sweetest note this morning. “She’s so successful and so good at what she does that it always keeps you in check at the house”, he said.

While I’m curious to know what went wrong between the couple, Gwen and Gavin are notoriously tight-lipped when it comes to their personal life. “So’ I feel really proud what we’ve done together”.
