In a quick cameo, “Game of Thrones” author George R.R. Martin was impaled by – and had his head bitten off by – a shark that crashed into the theater where he was watching a shark monster movie (how meta). “It’s turned into the most successful TV series of all time, so no one was going to predict that!” While stripped from the broadcast, he does have a line. It’s nearly, you know, falling over its success.
But how was Martin’s “Sharknado” cameo appearance became possible when he’s busy finishing the sixth installment (“The Winds of Winter”) of his novel series?
What is Martin’s fate in the film?
Looking back, the actor admitted that no one was expecting “Game of Thrones” to be the worldwide phenomenon that it is today, but he is honored nonetheless to be a part of it. Let the GIF do the talking. Some viewers believe that it was a nod to “Game of Thrones” character Ned Stark (Sean Bean), who was beheaded in season 1, while others think that it’s sort of a payback for the apparent death of Jon Snow (Kit Harington) in season 5. I refuse to include him in the cast of characters that have met their end.
There was a bit of a cliffhanger when Tara Reid’s character gave birth inside a shark, cut herself out and then maybe died.
The text “You decide if #AprilLives or #AprilDies” appears on the screen next, along with the voice-over, “Now’s your chance to be part of Sharknado history!”
Much of the film takes place at Universal Orlando Resort. Even the writer of the first three is saying it is getting increasingly hard to script. Sharknado 3 took place in DC with the “nado” heading down to South Florida. It will be revealed in “Sharknado 4″, which Variety reports is a go.
