Another significant victor of the night was Joan Cusack, who, while not present at the ceremony, won her first Emmy for playing Sheila Jackson in Showtime’s “Shameless“. Nominated for his surprise role on “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt”, Hamm is now an astounding 0-14 at the Emmys.

Zach Galifianakis’ Between Two Ferns won for being the best live-action short-format program, Louis C.K. won Outstanding Writing For A Variety Special for his Live At The Comedy Store, and SNL 40 won Best Variety Special.
Host for a reality or reality-competition program: Jane Lynch, “Hollywood Game Night“, NBC. Both won for the second consecutive year.
The HBO fantasy saga was honored at Saturday’s creative arts Emmys, the precursor to the main September 20 ceremony, in categories including special visual effects and casting.
Competing against “Mad Men”, “House of Cards” and “Game of Thrones” (which won), “Orange is the New Black” was at the back of the pack in casting, but saw an even uglier switch-a-roo in the guest acting categories.
“Bessie” won for outstanding television movie. The docuseries also received six Primetime Emmy nominations.
In accepting his award for outstanding documentary series, “Jinx” director Andrew Jarecki asked to share a behind-the-scenes story on show’s peculiar subject. She had been previously nominated four times for the role.
The other nominees were Pamela Adlon (“Louie“); Elizabeth Banks (“Modern Family“); Christine Baranski (“The Big Bang Theory”);and Gaby Hoffmann (“Girls”).
Margo Martindale took best guest actress in a drama for “The Americans“, marking the FX drama’s first victory. Her award also marked the first Emmy award for the FX spy drama.
