Galaxy Tab S2 pre-orders start today

“We set out to make the Galaxy Tab S2 the most powerful tablet we’ve ever created”, Gary Riding, senior vice president of mobile computing at Samsung Electronics America, said in a statement.

Samsung is celebrating the U.S. release of the Galaxy Tab S2 today. A recent example is the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ that was recently introduced to the audience in India just about a week past its global launch at Samsung’s Unpacked event in New York. The 8-inch tablet will retail for $399.99, and the 9.7-inch version will retail for $499.99. On top of the Wi-Fi only models, Samsung is also selling its two new ultra-slim slabs in LTE versions through AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and Verizon.

The first thing to know is that Samsung will be offering the Galaxy Tab S2 in two different sizes, one at 8 inches and the other at 9.7, so prospective buyers can choose which one they feel more comfortable with. Both versions measure just 5.6mm across the waist, being the slimmest tablets in the world at the moment. Each features a microSD slot to upgrade storage.

T-Mobile’s current lineup lacks a high-end Android tablet that can go head-to-head with the iPad, so it’s great to see the Galaxy Tab S2 changing that.

Beyond the chipset and storage space, both variants sport an 8-megapixel primary camera paired with a 2.1-megapixel front-facing selfie camera, and offer Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box, topped with the company’s native UI. Samsung made no mention on a potential update to Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

The Galaxy Tab S2 is available for preorder starting today and will be available at select U.S. retailers and carriers beginning September 3. It sports a Super AMOLED 2,048-by-1,536-pixel display with Adaptive Display technology, which automatically adjusts screen settings to deliver the best looking images and Reading Mode, which modifies the screen’s brightness levels, so you won’t strain your eyes.
