FreedomPop, a new mobile virtual network operator (MVNO), has launched in the United Kingdom , offering users free call, text and data allowances each month.

FreedomPop has launched a brand-new mobile service across the UK.

In the case of the United Kingdom service, FreedomPop is first partnering with Hutchison Whampoa’s Three to provide network connectivity, as well as with another company providing integration services. But if you really do need more, there are ways to get more, some of them free of charge as well. However you might still find £8.99 fair value, if you did continue on that plan. Customers can also share and receive free data with any friends and family that are also FreedomPop users.

“The United Kingdom has had many mobile providers and services enter the market, but none offer free service, guaranteed for life”, said CEO and FreedomPop co-founder Stephen Stokols. That’s right, absolutely nothing to pay unless you go over your quota, which for low demand use is still relatively generous.

Needless to say, FreedomPop is far from a traditional mobile provider, and there’s no arguing with the free “Basic 200” plan, as long as you keep within the allowances.

And it will also have an “offerwall”, where FreedomPop will list various promotions that will “gift” users extra airtime or data in exchange for different actions, like watching ads or downloading apps. In the future the company may sell handsets bundled with SIM cards.

Should the free “Basic 200” plan be a little light on allowances, there’s always the £9 per month tariff with 1000 minutes, 1000 texts and 1GB of data, or the £12 per month option with 2GB of data and unlimited minutes and texts.

Current iPhone 6 users can now move their device to FreedomPop’s iPhone-Only plan and it will start selling financed the iPhone 6S directly in October. The firm will start to sell iPhones next month, reports TechCrunch, which should boost the (currently low) number of iPhone users using its network.
