Ford Mustang Pulling A ‘Fast & Furious’ With Ten Gears? Well Sort Of…

Today, the very first production 2015 Ford Shelby GT350 rolled off the assembly line in Flat Rock, Michigan; this very special Mustang was driven off the line by Bill Ford Jr. and being production number Chassis F0001, we’re concluding that this is the very vehicle that will go to the high bidder from the Barrett-Jackson auction.

But that didn’t stop Ford from looking ahead as AutomotiveNews reports the Mustang is already slated for a mid-cycle refresh in 2018. A new 10-speed automatic is also said to be in the works for equipping, to improve performance and fuel efficiency. Rumor has it that Ford will also introduce a Mach 1 edition around the same time as the facelift.

Directly inspired by the 1965 Shelby GT350 Competition racing model. The GT350R gains unique performance touches like a larger front splitter and a carbon fiber rear wing.

Coming back to more down-to-Earth Stangs, you should also know that for the entry-level 2016 Mustang V6 Fastback with the six-speed manual transmission customers are charged $23,800 while the convertible raises the bar to $29,300. Expect the next-generation Mustang to be introduced in 2019 or 2020. Recent spy photos have revealed that the 2017 Ford Escape will have styling changes mimicking what’s found on the redesigned 2015 Edge.

The company’s best-selling model after the F series is the Fusion, which will receive a minor facelift in 2016, giving it a more upscale appearance.
