The new Super Duty line-up will be introduced at the State Fair of Texas and become available near the end of 2016.

The trucks pick up a number of new features, from the new Sync 3 infotainment system to adaptive cruise control and blind-spot detection. The driver can call on up to seven cameras to help when towing either gooseneck or conventional trailers, including a 360-degree camera for a bird’s-eye view and a high-mounted brake light camera to ease trailer hook-up.

The new cab is four inches longer with a new interior, seats and some innovative storage including a hidden and lockable compartment. It will offer three engines for the latest model, namely, a 6.2L V8 gas, a 6.7L V8 diesel, and a 6.8L V10. Horsepower and torque figures have not been released yet.

It’s built around a fully boxed frame that’s made up of more than 95% high-strength steel, which can be as much as 24 times stiffer than the previous frame, which Ford notes “enables the most towing and hauling capability ever delivered by Super Duty”.

Undoubtedly, a step forward for the company, the Super Duty F-250 pickup truck nearly350 pounds lighter than the current-gen truck with a steel body.

The next truck in the lineup of Ford’s F-Series is finally here. Pricing for the new truck, which will be built in Kentucky and go on sale late next year, has not been announced yet.

“While Super Duty is America’s best-selling heavy-duty truck, we never take our leadership for granted”, said Raj Nair, Ford group vice president, Global Product Development and chief technical officer. A feature that’s become common on luxury cars, this is the first time it’s been available on a heavy-duty truck. And, like the F-150, these trucks haul in big profits for the automaker.

One of the features worth noting is the 2017 Super Duty’s adaptive steering that allows the driver to exert less effort when running at low speeds.

About 25 percent of customers buy a chassis cab, which are used for various jobs, from ambulances to dump trucks. There’s even a camera that can be fitted to the trailer – a factory first, says Ford – making hook-up even easier.

For futher emphasis that this is, in fact, a 21st century truck, Ford has gone the extra mile and bestowed all the tech you’d expect to see on a Mercedes S Class on its toughest workhorse.

There are five models in the Super Duty lineup – XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch and Platinum.
