Focus ST Cranked to 275 HP by OEM-Backed Upgrade Kit

If the package is installed at a Ford dealership, it won’t even affect the Focus ST’s three-year/36,000-mile warranty. Ford Performance today announced an upgrade kit for the ST that, among other things, takes that already impressive output and ratchets it up another level.

Focus ST customers can get more performance out of their vehicle thanks to a new kit from Ford.

In partnership with long time tuner Mountune, Ford Performance is offering an off-the-shelf kit which includes a larger inter-cooler, revised intake plumbing, a new filter, a tuner and all the needed hardware. (The lesser kits don’t quote a specific power figure, but certainly they’d be good for more ponies than stock.) It is worth noting that Ford offers two seemingly identical kits, one for the 2013-2014 Focus ST, and a separate one for the refreshed and slightly softened 2015 model; look before you buy.

The upgrade kit’s ECU tinkers with engine mapping in such a way that it create quicker throttling without sacrificing overall stability.

With the Mountune performance pack, the 2013-2015 Ford Focus ST will produce 275 hp and 296 lb-ft on 93-octane gasoline, up from 252 hp and 270 lb-ft in the factory-specification hot hatch.

Unlike many aftermarket kits that compromise reliability and driveability on the street while also hampering emissions, the mountune system keeps Focus ST street-legal in all 50 states.
