When first revealed at E3 2015, the Final Fantasy 7 Remake came as a welcome surprise to the gamers in attendance and to those watching around the world.
Final Fantasy VII is getting a remake but there are still plenty of questions as far as how the game will turn out.
We’re starting to see the visual direction.
As stated previously, Kitase also addressed the progress being made in regards to the game’s battle system. In other words, we wouldn’t count on seeing the traditional active time battle system again.
There’s a possibility that Square Enix won’t go with a command-based battle system for the Final Fantasy VII remake, that said, they’re being extra careful on where to take it from here.
Finally, with a quote that doesn’t exactly inspire confidence, Kitase jokes “please don’t ask about how far into development we are”.
Porting the game to mobile from its home on consoles required a few changes, however.
Details from game director Tetsuya Nomura following the game’s reveal assured fans that Cloud will still be able to cross-dress (in that one mission), will not feature new characters, will not simply feature better graphics, but will feature a new combat system.
So while we wait for gameplay footage and more substantial updates, it’s reassuring to have these small updates from producer Yoshinori Kitase in the meantime.
While certain elements of the original release certainly do need sprucing up, Square Enix undoubtedly have a tough road ahead of them.
Square Enix have announced that they’ve entered a “trial and error” phase for the Final Fantasy VII Remake combat system.
