These photos from the Moments app can also be shared social networking platforms such as Facebook, Facebook Messenger and Instagram but one disadvantage is that you cannot share it via Twitter.
However, the app still won’t be coming to the UK or Europe any time soon because of privacy concerns.
“Syncing photos with the Moments app is a private way to give photos to friends and get the photos you want”.
Facebook on Tuesday announced the launch of its Moments application for South Africa.
Questioned today on when Moments might be handed a European release, a Facebook spokesperson told us it has no “further info right now”.
While there are other apps available to create video stories out of your photos, with the new feature in Moments you have the advantage is that the app is already synced with Facebook. With Facebook’s facial recognition software, users can grab anything that features what it recognises as an image featuring Facebook friends. You can also change the musical background by selecting the one you like from a list of about ten tunes.
According to App Annie, the Moments app shows a decent ranking in the iTunes App Store under the Photo and Video category, where it is now at No. 107. The music videos can then be directly posted to the user’s Facebook account.
The new feature is as fun as it can get because it allows people to use at least six photos and chose their favorite song from a list of nearly a dozen tunes to go with them. Moments app is aimed to make syncing photos quickly and easily with specific friends.
Once editing is complete, users will be able to share the clip directly to Facebook, tagging those who’re in the clip.
Facebook could really benefit from the new feature. It’s also available in most countries and in 34 different languages.
Google Photos is the obvious provider of a service that offers photo to video creation, but there are a number of other players as well, such as Flipgram and even Apple’s iPhoto desktop application providing similar functionality.
