A former Tesla Motors engineer has been charged in federal court with felony computer intrusion for accessing his manager’s email account, sharing employee evaluations with others and posting confidential information on the Web. According to the indictment, he “made disparaging comments concerning the alleged quality issues that he then and there well knew to be false and misleading, all the while intending to harm Tesla’s reputation and credibility”.



He was arrested in Vermont last month as he crossed the border into the USA, the Federal Bureau of Investigation said Thursday.

A spokesman for Tesla declined to comment.

Kalbasi is being prosecuted by the US attorney’s computer hacking unit.

In addition to the felony counts, Kalbasi also faces one count of misdemeanor computer intrusion. Tesla Motors has a 1-year low of $181.40 and a 1-year high of $286.65. The base price on the Model 3 vehicle will be $35,000 (£23,000). The company’s 50-day moving average price is $251.34 and its 200-day moving average price is $234.50.

Tesla Motors (NASDAQ:TSLA) last posted its earnings results on Wednesday, August 5th. The Auto-Cars & Light Trucks company announced earnings per share of $-0.82 against a consensus Street estimate of $-1.39, beating the average estimate by $0.57.

A recent analyst activity consisted of Morgan Stanley reiterating their Overweight stance on August 17. Vetr cut Tesla Motors from a “hold” rating to a “sell” rating and set a $265.55 price target for the company.in a report on Monday, July 20th.
