Eagles confirm Zach Ertz had surgery to fix core muscle injury

Those were a couple of morsels which came from head coach Chip Kelly’s news conference before practice on Friday.

Returning players such as Zach Ertz (who will miss the entire preseason), Mychal Kendricks, and DeMeco Ryans are dealing with some injury issues as well.

“Me”, Kelly said Friday when asked the reason behind Murray’s limited practice reps.

“We look at everybody and where they are from a body standpoint”, Kelly said. “I was laughing because, before he did it, he asked, ‘Can we get those guys some mojitos and maybe some fans?'” According to Chip Kelly, Philadelphia’s starters in this game will only play about eight to 10 snaps. “There’s a fine line” between the need to get a key player ready for the season and trying to keep him from getting hurt in a meaningless game. Considering how successful the Eagles have been at keeping players healthy, this can only be seen a good thing for Murray’s long-term outlook.

Seven players will be inactive for the Eagles’ preseason opener against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday afternoon at Lincoln Financial Field. He tore his left ACL in October 2013 and again last August.

Another acquisition the Eagles made this offseason that I’m excited to see is backup and capable starting running back is Ryan Mathews.

Center Jason Kelce informed the Philadelphia Daily News that Ertz’s tear was not as vital because the one which sidelined Kelce for 5 weeks final season. His injury was more serious than Ertz’s is believed to be, however. He caught 58 passes for 702 yards and three touchdowns.
