Police allege the girl’s father killed her and also tried to kill her eight-year-old sister.
Police confirmed the 52-year-old left his Kedron home at 5am on Monday, three hours before his daughter’s body was found.
POLICE are looking for the father of a six-year-old girl who was found dead at a Brisbane home this morning. The mother, 36, called for an ambulance after making the grim discovery in the bedroom her two daughters shared.
He was later found on the Gold Coast and was taken to hospital before being charged at Surfers Paradise police station later on Monday. “This could be a terrible medical condition or it could be something worse or anything in between”, he said.
Their home located on Sturt Street in Kedron in a quiet neighbourhood about 10 kilometres north of the Brisbane CBD.
Police have told of the mother’s frantic efforts to save her child. She didn’t know much about the family.
‘They were very quiet so I didn’t know much about them, ‘ she said. Another neighbour said it was hard to believe such a tragedy had unfolded in the suburb. There was no history of domestic violence, he said.
‘It just doesn’t happen in Kedron, ‘ he told the Australian Associated Press.
A crime scene has been declared at the Sturt Street home and pathologists are helping the investigation. “I didn’t hear anything”.
