Apple fans rejoice, the newest version of the iPhone hit stores Friday.
That’s just the basics and I’m sure we’ll see a few hidden features pop up over the next week.
The fix guys at iFixIt took a deep dive beyond the new rose gold body and unveiled features like 3D Touch and high resolution cameras that have generated much of the iPhone 6S chatter. Touch ID replaces passcodes to unlock a phone and the feature allows users to unlock their devices instantaneously with a simple tap on the home button.
Other than just that, the iPhone 6s Plus is a reasonably stereotypical usual Apple matter. In the first resolution upgrade since the iPhone 4S, Apple has bumped the camera quality to 12 megapixels.
That’s because the new retina flash uses the phone’s screen to light up your face.
Apple’s upgrade program is more expensive than anything you’ll find with a carrier, but you’re getting AppleCare+ as well.
For those without an iPhone 6, Sprint is also offering a $10 iPhone 6s leasing plan ($14 for the Plus) if you trade in an iPhone 5s.
People slept in fold out chairs overnight and even blow up mattresses to get their hands on the newest members of the apple family. It appears to be mostly similar to the iPhone 6’s – a long box nearly the same size as the phone, inside which the handset itself sits in a cradle at the top.
Foot traffic tracking sites like Foursquare estimate that sales for the new iPhone could reach between $13 and $15 million for its release.
Analyst group eMarketer estimates that 43 per cent of smartphones sold in the USA will be iPhones this year, up from 40 per cent in 2013, while in the UK Apple has 32 per cent of the market. That’s quite a drop considering the battery wasn’t outstanding on the iPhone 6 in the first place, and it doesn’t prove that impressive on the iPhone 6S either. Now the 6s offers a flash which makes for a better shot.
