Several Putnam County fire departments were called to the scene of a brush fire burning for the second day in New Fairfield, Connecticut, Sunday.
There were no reported injuries, police said.
“I’m very proud of my fire department and very appreciative to all the surrounding towns that responded to New Fairfield”, said Chapman, who added that fire departments came from as far as 75 miles away.
“Firefighters from multiple departments/towns doing a great job”, Chapman tweeted.
For the second day in succession, firefighters from Putnam have been summoned to assist their Constitution State neighbors in battling the blaze that has blackened more than 11 acres of land off Route 37 in New Fairfield. The fire was first reported around 1 p.m. and as of 6 p.m. firefighters had the blaze under control.
According to officials from the Department of Energy & Environmental Protection, the fire was finally contained Monday morning. The fire was first spotted by The Connecticut Civil Air Patrol on Saturday.
