During the 16 years Jon Stewart presided over “The Daily Show”, the role of correspondent proved to be a powerful springboard. He’s also won several prizes at the Melbourne worldwide Comedy Festival, including Best Newcomer in 2012 and the Director’s Choice Award in 2014 – and has sold so many tickets that his show had to be moved from a 150 seat auditorium to a 400 seat venue, and finally to a 1400 seat venue, to accommodate the demand.
Wood made his network debut back in 2006 on The Late Show with David Letterman, and has since appeared on @midnight, Late Night with Seth Meyers, The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, Conan and ESPN’s SportsNation.
Lydic was a member of The Groundlings and Improv Olympic. Awkward fans will recognize Lydic as guidance counselor Valerie Marks on the MTV comedy. He came in seventh in the 2010 season of Last Comic Standing, and was a regular on TBS’s Sullivan and Son. Other television credits include “Two and a Half Men” (CBS), “The Odd Couple” (CBS) and “The League” (FX).
Wood’s thought-provoking comedy crosses cultural lines and has entertained millions nationwide via stage, radio and television. The comic, who previously made a handful of appearances on the program, will replace longtime host Jon Stewart, who taped his final episode on August 6th. Wood is repped by UTA and MacDonald Entertainment.
Trevor Noah will take up the post on September 28, and his production staff is gearing up for his debut.
