Vick Ballard burst onto the scene and led the Indianapolis Colts in rushing during the 2012 season, but injuries have cut his stint with the team short following a tumultuous preseason.

Indianapolis Colts running back Vick Ballard (26) makes a catch during the NFL team’s football training camp in Anderson, Ind., Monday, August 3, 2015.

The last time Ballard played in a regular season game was the 2013 season opener against the Dolphins. He ripped off a couple good little runs. We all know the type of runner he is when he’s healthy. The clock struck zero on Tuesday when the team waived/injured its former fifth-round draft pick.

Asked what was going through his mind in the locker room after the game, Ballard just said, “Keep pressing forward”. He sat out the 2014 season after tearing his Achilles tendon during practice. “It takes perseverance, resolve and a ton of grit to go through what he’s gone through. It’s just unfortunate. I hope it’s not a long-term deal with that so we’ll wait and see and evaluate him”. It was a surprise Ballard made the opening-day, 53-man roster.

Still, there’s no question that a healthy Bradshaw would provide a proven upgrade to young rookie running backs like Josh Robinson and Tyler Varga in theory.

“It was a hard position to be in, for my entire family to be in, friends, loved ones”, McNary said after the trial. Defensive tackle Jeris Pendleton was released from the practice squad.

Tipton, 6-0, 230 pounds, played in six games for the Colts in 2014 and finished his rookie year with 10 carries for 18 yards and six receptions for 68 yards and one touchdown.

Indianapolis Colts running back Ahmad Bradshaw (44) celebrates after scoring on a 5-yard touchdown pass against the Houston Texans at NRG Stadium. And while he handled eight or fewer touches in each of his first five games, he emerged as the team’s starter midway through the season.
