Clinton hit Republicans Marco Rubio, Ben Carson and Donald Trump at the event at the University of Northern Iowa. As for prevention efforts, Clinton announced that she would increase education programs on consent and bystander intervention in both college and secondary schools.
Clinton leads among registered Democrats, but Sanders has a wider advantage among independents and new voters.
“Once she testifies to Congress in the next few weeks I think the issue will slowly go away”, Ryan said.
During her remarks, Clinton argued that providing equal pay and affordable child care were important economic issues.
Clinton’s stop in Cedar Falls drew a mix of students and older supporters.
I’m not saying Clinton has run a perfect campaign, or that she couldn’t have handled earlier questions about her use of email better, or that she wouldn’t be better off with higher support from women voters.
A Sanders campaign spokesman said the attack was “disappointing” because “this is exactly the kind of politics Bernie is trying to change”.
