The film, which focuses on Ball’s two-decade marriage to Desi Arnaz – her co-star on the iconic television series, “I Love Lucy” – which ended in divorce in 1960.

Those two children, Lucy Arnaz Jr. and Desi Arnaz Jr., will be producing the movie with Escape Artists’ Jenna Block, although there’s no director in place as of yet. She married Gary Morton the following year.

A representative for Blanchett declined to comment, while a representative for Sorkin did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Could she be looking for another? She’s already coming on strong with “Carol” and “Truth“, and another plum gig has just been announced.

Sorkin won an Oscar for writing The Social Network and has proven adept at tackling real-life famous people, from Mark Zuckerberg to Billy Beane and Charlie Wilson. The Sony-based Escape Artists is shepherding the film. The Wrap is reporting that the newly-in-development project is being scripted by none other than Aaron Sorkin, whose work we’ll see back on the big screen in a couple months when Steve Jobs arrives.

Word from TheWrap says Blanchett will try to turn playing famous redheads of Hollywood history into an full-fledged wing of her career as she takes on the starring role in an authorized biopic about the I Love Lucy star.
