Castle and Alexis are perplexed about what is really going on with Beckett.

“Castle” season 8 co-showrunners Terence Paul Winter and Alexi Hawley previously confirmed that they will be shaking things up a bit in the upcoming installment. In tonight’s 2015 season premiere episode, after passing the Captain’s exam in the Season 7 finale, Beckett was surprised with an offer to run for State Senate.

Even though Beckett seems as if she has it all together, it would be impossible to push away her 16-year obsession with putting Bracken away for his crime. “She’s from a rough background”. She wants to get her job done for her client. She at first puts up an ice-cold front, but later shows up at Rick’s office to share the little she knows. Castle’s daughter Alexis (Molly C. Quinn) was excelling in college, Beckett’s colleagues Esposito (Jon Huertas) and Ryan (Seamus Dever) were riding high on their latest win and Castle’s actress mom Martha (Susan Sullivan) was a hit on Broadway.

“No one needs to trust her. I don’t think they need to”, Olagundoye explains. It felt like it was time to grow [Alexis] up in a substantial way.

AX: What would both of you most like people to know about CASTLE Season 8? Who knows? This episode brought a dejavu feeling of how they found Castle at the beginning of last season.

This show is strong due to their love story. Adds Winter: “We’ve had the honeymoon previous year “.”How can we tell stories, fun stories that are still steeped in the DNA of the show and steeped in their love story?” It’s not really up to us. Castle eventually hulks out and breaks free of his zipties, and a chase ensues. CASTLE returns for its eighth season on ABC, Mondays at 10 PM, starting September 21, and Hawley and Winter are happy to tease what we can expect.
