TEMPE. Ariz. – Arizona Cardinals right tackle Bobby Massie has been suspended two games without pay for violating the NFL’s substance-abuse policy, the league announced Saturday.

A person close to the situation had said several weeks ago that Massie was initially suspended for three games but was appealing the penalty.

The suspension is the result of an incident from Super Bowl week, according to NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport.

Massie’s suspension is the second major blow the Cardinals line has suffered. Left guard Mike Iupati is going to miss a few weeks of the season after undergoing knee surgery during training camp. The Cardinals had problems on the offensive line last season, ranking 24th overall by Pro Football Focus, and things aren’t off to a great start for 2015.

He will be able to return to Arizona’s roster on September 21 to begin work ahead of a September 27 home game against San Francisco.
