The Enterprise 3D Project is as canon as it gets.
The company wants to take a modular approach to the ship’s construction, but it assures users that each room of the ship will be accessible and unique in some way.
The goal is to serve as a virtual museum, where you can explore every deck and room. There’s no word on if or when we’ll actually get to interact with the virtual environment ourselves, but for now you can enjoy the scenery in the video above.
Star Trek fans everywhere will finally be able to walk along the Star Trek Enterprise thanks to the power of VR. What does Worf’s quarters look like? Malls? Markets? Gardens? All these questions will be answered. “I wanted to be on that ship, experience its wonders”.
Once he’s completed the Enterprise D, the project could evolve to include a populated ship, other locations like the Starfleet Headquarters, as well as “online play with other Star Trek fans”. Jason is using material from the HD series, set blueprints, official blueprints and anything he can find on the internet.
That approval will likely have to come sooner than later, as Jason B has already announced he’ll need to turn to crowdfunding to raise funds to hire additional developers to build out some of the additional features.
