Caitlyn Jenner may face criminal charge after fatal crash

“We have completed the investigation and will present the case to the DA’s Office next week”, Lieutenant Patrick Mathers of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Malibu/Lost Hills Station said Thursday.

“[Jenner] negligently, carelessly, recklessly, and wantonly drove, managed, maintained, controlled, operated and entrusted their motor vehicle so as to legally cause the plaintiff to be injured”, Steindorff’s legal papers read, TMZ previously reported. Jenner was not driving above the speed limit, but driving at an unsafe speed for the road conditions that day, Curry said.

Caitlyn Jenner attends Culture Club’s performance at the Greek Theatre on July 24, 2015 in Los Angeles, California. According to Det. Richard Curry of the L.A. County Sheriff’s Dept., since detectives uncovered “nothing really egregious” in their investigation, he says there’s a “50/50” chance Jenner will be charged.

The incident, which happened in Malibu, CA on February 7 killed 69-year-old Kim Howe.

She was unable to stop which resulted in Jenner hitting two other vehicles, Howe’s Lexus and a Toyota Prius.

Because Jenner has no prior record, it’s unlikely she would face any jail time if prosecutors charge her with vehicular manslaughter and she’s convicted, said Daniel W. Vomhof, an accident reconstructionist who’s testified in 3,500 cases.

The fatal crash occurred months before Caitlyn Jenner’s transition.

The February pile-up resulted in the death of motorist Kim Howe, while Jessica Steindorff, whose Prius was also involved in the crash, has sued the Olympian.

Blair Berk, Jenner’s attorney, declined to comment on the presentation of the evidence. At the time of the crash, she was Bruce Jenner, better known as the Kardashian family’s father figure and the 1976 Olympic decathlon gold medal victor .

Jenner underwent sex change operation this year that was revealed in June and now has her own television program, “I am Cait”, which revolves around her life as a transgender.
