The 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine now produces 600PS (592hp) and 700Nm (516lb-ft), allowing the BMW M6 Coupe with the optional M Driver’s Package to a top speed of 305 km/h (189.5 mph).
After breaking the news that BMW will be unveiling a surprise M6 version at the Frankfurt Motor Show this year, it’s time to tell you all about it and show it in all its glory. To signify its special edition status are the iconic BMW M exterior body stripes that come with the package. The finish is offest by matte-black 20-in M light-alloy wheels with double-spoke 343 M styling, a black chrome BMW kidney grille, door handles, side gills and carbon-fiber exterior mirror caps.
The Competition Edition can be ordered for €17,700 in Germany. This new special edition is exclusively for the M6 Coupe optioned with the Competition package. An M Performance Exhaust with carbon fiber tailpipes compliments the look.
In the interior, BMW Individual fine-grain Merino full leather in black with contrast stitching, available in Opal White with Alpine White paintwork and in Yellow with Austin Yellow metallic paintwork, highlights the car’s exclusive sporty ambience. Carbon fibre appears appears on the trim strips and steering wheels spokes, and the wheel comes wrapped in Alcantara for added grip. “M6 Competition” lettering can be found throughout the cabin, even on the cupholder lids.
Designed for use by privateer teams in the 2016 GT racing leage, the M6 GT3 is the most focussed S series variant to date.
Elsewhere, the auto features M multifunction seats for the driver and front passenger, and a head-up display. For those lucky few who get one, a voucher for a free visit to a BMW Performance Center Driving School will be included.
Limited to 120 units worldwide and 100 in the US, the BMW M6 Competition Edition is available at selected retailers for $164,900 plus Destination and Handling.
