She finally got her insurance back in March and went to a doctor who told her that she had breast cancer and it spread during her months without insurance.

Doherty didn’t realize that once she was sacked by her management firm, she became uninsured, reports THR. “However, Defendants ignored it, failed to pay it (without informing Plaintiff) and then promptly terminated their relationship with [Doherty] effective February 7, 2014”.

Doherty, who split with her manager in 2014, claims that it is now likely she will have to undergo a mastectomy and chemotherapy.

People claims Doherty was forced to confirm her diagnosis after celebrity website TMZ published legal documents, which revealed the actress was suing her former business manager.

Further, her inability to have the health care and the spread of cancer has caused her “severe emotional distress”.

A lawyer representing the company responded with a statement, writing: “Tanner Mainstain is saddened to learn that Ms. Doherty is suffering from cancer and wishes her a full recovery”.

The “Beverly Hills 90210” star’s lawsuit states Doherty was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and her doctors have told her it worsened during the period when her health insurance had lapsed.

McRae is also representing Doherty’s husband, photographer Kurt Iswarienko, in a separate lawsuit against Tanner Mainstain.

According to the court papers, the actress hired the firm in July 2009 for tax, accounting, investment and other business management services, including payment of her insurance premiums to the Screen Actors Guild. However, none of the two lawsuits specified how much damages the couple is seeking.
