The Associated Press reported that following a third-round loss to eventual Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic two weeks ago, Tomic was suspended from Australia’s home Davis Cup quarterfinal against Kazakhstan after he criticized his country’s tennis officials.
Australian bad boy Bernard Tomic was arrested last night because the partying tennis star refused to turn down his music in a Miami South Beach hotel.
But Bernard is no slave to “the man”… and allegedly “pointed his finger aggressively” at the security guards and slammed the door in their faces. “The security guards called police in order to evict and trespass warn def. Officers Gutierrez responded to the room in an attempt to advise the def. that he was being evicted”.
After all the guests left, Tomic “willfully remained in the room” and refused to leave, police said.
He was taken to a nearby jail where he was charged with trespassing and resisting arrest, before being released on US$20,000 (A$26,900) bail.
Tomic, who is ranked No. 25 in the world by the Association of Tennis Professionals, won the 2008 Australian Open and the 2009 U.S. Open.
Tomic was surprisingly eliminated in the first round of the Hall of Fame Tennis Championships in Newport, Rhode Island, by fellow Aussie John-Patrick Smith Monday.
