To make its world debut at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show, Bentley Bentayga top speed figures were officially confirmed by the Crewe based manufacturer today. Undergoing high-speed testing at an undisclosed track (likely Volkswagen’s secret testing facility in Germany), Bentley released a video showing the Bentayga hitting a top speed of 301 km/h, or 187 miles per hour, with its 6.0-liter W12 engine with 600 hp and 664 lb-ft of torque.

By comparison, the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S tops out at 175 mph, Land Rover’s Range Rover Sport SVR only reaches 162 mph, and the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT won’t do better than 160 mph.

Note, the 187-mph Bentayga will be the regular model.

Not only will it be the fastest, it will wear the most powerful SUV crown as well.

To go on sale in 2016, Bentley Bentayga will be priced above £130,000 (INR 1.31 crore or $197,347).

The Bentayga – pronounced with the long “a” sound of the taiga, the Siberian snowforest that helped give it its name – will face increasing competition from other ultra-luxury SUVs.

Saying you’re the fastest is a bold claim in the motoring world, but then the Bentley Bentayga sports utility vehicle crossover has the credentials to back up the claim. It added: “Performance of this nature is rare in any auto”.
