This awesome virtual tour video (which now features pre-Alpha footage and is to be considered a work in progress) – accompanied by Jerry Goldsmith’s sweeping Star Trek: First Contact score (one of my favorites – always brings tears to my eyes) – makes you feel as if you were indeed a member of the Enterprise crew.

The company wants to take a modular approach to the ship’s construction, but it assures users that each room of the ship will be accessible and unique in some way.

For now the Enterprises may be incomplete and the Oculuses not yet for sale, but I’ve never been so excited at the prospect of putting on some goggles and gawking at an empty room. Due to the show’s limited television budget, the scope, detail, and variety of what the audience could see was restricted. The site reveals that fans will be able to visit areas such as engineering via the turbolift, walk from Deck 36 to Deck 5 to visit the Arboretum, check out Worf’s quarters and look out the large forward windows on Deck 3. Malls? Markets? Gardens? All these questions will be answered. That’s 42 complete decks, based on official blueprints and other designs.

Enter the Enterprise 3-D Project, a scale recreation of the ship created in Unreal Engine 4 being built by one supremely dedicated fan. “I wanted to be on that ship, experience its wonders”.

“If there is interest from the fanbase, I will try and pursue this project from a more serious standpoint”, Jason said, adding that the project would then need some crowdfunding to hire other developers and artists. I will seek CBS’ blessing to continue to create this. You can check out the full video of the tour below.
