Huckabee has been hammering home the idea that Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis has been the victim of “judicial tyranny” and was put in jail “for being a Christian.” Ted Cruz on Wednesday of trying to crash his rally on behalf of Kim Davis, acknowledging that his team prevented Cruz from speaking to the media, Buzzfeed reported. The Supreme Court’s ruling in favor of gay marriage, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal told his followers after the decision, “will pave the way for an all out assault against the religious freedom rights of Christians”. The reality is Davis is more like bus driver James F. Blake, who had Parks arrested for refusing to give up her seat.
And perhaps those who find a government for which they work so morally repugnant as does Kim Davis, would better serve the public they have sworn to serve, from outside rather than inside. “What a world, where Hillary Clinton isn’t in jail but Kim Davis is”.
But then I made the mistake of leaving CNN on in the background as she was released yesterday, and it all changed for me. Thoreau was an abolitionist who retreated as far from politics as possible, not a presidential candidate relying on votes from white southerners. The Republican presidential candidate has been fully supportive of Davis even though she is a Democrat because after all, government and the law of the land means nothing in his version of the US (United Spiritual America). “Even though Kim has now been released, we need to realize that the battle for religious liberty in this country is in no way over”, he continued.
She cried as the crowd cheered for her. He says she can not allow her name to be associated with something that conflicts with God’s definition of marriage. Religions have strong convictions about God’s instructions and rules.
“Defendant Davis shall not interfere in any way, directly or indirectly, with the efforts of her deputy clerks to issue marriage licenses to all legally eligible couples”, he wrote. “Just keep on pressing, don’t let down”. The event turned into a more joyous affair after the judge who had originally ordered Davis to jail apparently reconsidered, and suddenly directed officials to release her on Tuesday.
When Ted Cruz showed up and tried to join Huckabee, Davis, her husband, and her lawyer on the stage, a Huckabee staffer literally, physically blocked the Texas senator from participating.
“Her spirits remain high”, said Horatio Mihet one of Davis’ attorneys. Henry Rollins is convinced that not so many people are actually opposed.
Mihet said she was “willing to stay in this jail as long as it takes in order for her to win back her constitutional rights, not just for her but for Americans of all faiths”.
