“This is not a random act of violence”, said Essex County District Attorney Timothy Cruz.

The victim has been identified as Robert McKenna, 43, who lived at the home.

Preliminary results of an autopsy indicate he died of blood loss, authorities said.

“This is a very active crime scene”, Cruz said. “We do not believe that anybody else is in danger”.

Anyone with information is asked to call Marshfield Police at 781-834-6655 or State Police at 508-923-4000.

Investigators are awaiting autopsy results to determine the cause and manner of death.

Other neighbors said they liked the man and that he would snowblow people’s yards for them.

“It’s busy in there”, he said.

WATD’S Erin Dale, speaking with some of neighbors, is painting a picture of an eccentric man who had a home filled with stuffed big game animals that he allegedly paid to have shipped from Africa, some of which may have been endangered, and called himself a “diamond runner”. Cruz declined to release McKenna’s occupation.

Neighbors said they heard a vehicle pull away from McKenna’s house early Wednesday, when police believe McKenna was killed.

“I heard someone shout to the dog”, he said.

Latvis said he and his wife had a tense relationship with McKenna, who he said had a habit of shooting off fireworks and flying a drone over his neighbors’ property, but others said he was neighborly and helpful.

She said McKenna was a fascinating man with a resume that he claimed involved working in the diamond import business in Africa. “I actually think he’s from outside of the country”, she said.

When he bought the house, she said he didn’t have any belongings to put inside.

“He said he’d sold a co-op or apartment in New York”, said Betsy Hines, who brokered the deal. He said McKenna also owned two large dogs. Allegedly a friend of McKenna’s found his body that afternoon.

“Then there were some loud sounds, I don’t know what they were, and that’s all I knew until the next (day)”, he said.
