Astros’ star Correa and Watt hang out at Texans camp

“I love the win”, Hinch said.

Correa also homered for the Astros, who got their second straight extra-inning win after Marwin Gonzalez’s 10th-inning homer gave them a 3-2 victory Tuesday night.

Shortstop Carlos Correa gave the Astros plenty to celebrate with a single to drive in the winning run in the 13th inning Wednesday as the Tampa Bay Rays fell 3-2 at Minute Maid Park. He’s said in the past that he plays baseball because he’d rather be hit by a baseball than by Watt.

In the 13th, Colby Rasmus reached on a one-out walk and Jose Altuve executed a hit-and-run to perfection to get Rasmus to third with only one out.

Josh Fields (4-1) got the last two outs of the 13th for the win.

Meanwhile, manager A.J. Hinch was far less enthused about the situation.

The Rays have lost five of their last six games.

Neither team got a hit in the 10th and 11th innings. He pointed to the teammates’ close relationship and said they are “like brothers”. The Astros perform similarly when they allow one or more homers with a 24-38 record. Apparently it has for the Astros as they have not been able to muster the same power and run offense since Springer got hit by a pitch in the game versus the Royals on July 1st.

The Rays had trouble stringing hits together against Dallas Keuchel until the seventh. Luis Valbuena couldn’t come up with the catch, and Logan Forsythe then singled to left.

Brandon Gomes received the Rays via the 11th, they usually had an opportunity within the prime of the 12th when James Loney doubled with one out, however Kevin Kiermaier popped out and Rene Rivera struck out.

Ranking first in home runs, Houston has hit 164 this season. It was the 18th start where he allowed two or fewer runs, which ties a franchise rookie record set by Rolando Arrojo in 1998.

Looking at the slash line and the home run and runs batted in stats, it shows that the Astros were doing okay in July but hit a wall in August.
