Arsene Wenger says he has “no problem” with his players taking selfies after matches after criticism from Manchester United legend Roy Keane.
Arsenal kickoff their season today against Chelsea in the Community Shield.
Such self-promotion wasn’t Keane’s way of doing business as a player, and partially explains why he is overlooking them as title contenders – Arsenal last won the league in 2004.
The Dutchman added Memphis Depay, Matteo Darmian, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Morgan Schneiderlin and Sergio Romero this summer – on the back of the £150 million they spent past year.
“Mourinho has good players, bloody good players”.
“They will only be in trouble if they are complacent but I don’t think it is in their nature to take their foot off the gas”.
‘If Chelsea have their wits about them, stay hungry, and show the same desire they showed last year, they’ll win the League, ‘ he stated.
“I don’t see a problem with that”, he said. United will no doubt be better next year, they’ll need to be stronger out of the blocks, but if I was a betting man, which I’m not, I’d still go with Chelsea.
Arsenal have some really good players – some good characters who roll their sleeves up.
“Definitely they will be stronger this year”.
“City have bought two players since last season ended but I don’t think their dressing room has been improved”, he added.
But Wenger, who has led Arsenal to three Premier League titles during his time in England, hit back, saying: “It’s fun for them”.
Republic of Ireland assistant Roy Keane has said that Arsenal’s players are more interested in their looks than winning titles.
Keane was reluctant to compare the current Chelsea side with the United team he played for in his prime.
