Apple has recently started reaching out to certain customers who have recently acquired third-generation Apple TVs for a product recall on the devices. Because the faulty part was not identified, it is not clear what owners need to look out for, though it seems Apple is already taking proactive steps to ensure seamless operation. In addition, unlike most other recall orders or fix programs, Apple has not released an advisory to the public about the Apple TVs replaced. Apple has not put any such requirement of first receiving the defective box back before sending a new one. Apple was not offering the option to exchange the speaker, however, but rather a free Apple Store gift card.
Some folks with defective units might not even notice an issue in performance, says Broussard, but Apple will connect with you if you have the defective parts in your Apple TV.
They might not have had any problems with their Apple TVs yet, as Apple seems to have realised that a certain batch shipped with a faulty part and recalled them before any issues arose.
It would be a crying shame to know that you had the chance to upgrade to a new model, and only had to do without your current Apple TV model for a month – thats saying the fourth generation model is on its way.
We’ve reached out to Apple to confirm that this program is legitimate, and will update as soon as we hear back.
