As of today, Amazon is beginning to offer cheap Washington Post subscriptions as a benefit to Prime subscribers.
As if Amazon Prime wasn’t awesome enough, subscribers can now get six months of the Washington Post digital edition for free. Then, after the six months are over, the cost will only be $3.99 a month. The Post logged its best-ever month online in June, when it counted 54.4 million uniques.
Still, this is a notable tie-up.
Now a year-long subscription to the digital edition of the Post costs $195, far less than either The Wall Street Journal or New York Times.

The move comes at an interesting time for the publishing industry. That will lead businesses to look toward other means of monetization – like the less-blockable native ads or subscription models, for example.
