Allegiant Air flight makes emergency landing in Sanford

The latest announcement comes less than a month after American Airlines said it will add two daily nonstop flights between Memphis global Airport and New York’s LaGuardia Airport. The airline is offering introductory fares starting at one way. “Pete”, Jude Bricker, Allegiant Travel Co. senior vice president of planning, said in a news release.

As recently as June 4, 2015, Allegiant launched nonstop service between Austin and Cincinnati. “The response to our service from the community has exceeded our expectations and we’re certain Memphis travelers will also embrace these new flights to Austin and Tampa-St”.

An Allegiant Air flight made an emergency landing Monday afternoon in Central Florida.

The new Memphis routes come after a hard period for the airline.

Last week, passengers on a flight from Jacksonville had their flight canceled after sitting on the runway for over an hour.

The Austin flight will go to Austin-Bergstrom global Airport and the Tampa-St.

This is Allegiant’s fourth nonstop route from from ABIA.

In addition to providing a replacement flight, Allegiant Air gave passengers impacted by the emergency landing $100 in flying credit to make up for the inconvenience.

Airport officials said Allegiant’s quick expansion is a sign of strong demand for its service. The service, announced Tuesday, begins October 1, 2015. “Not only does this provide our passengers with a growing number of nonstop destinations, but it also provides additional options for Memphis visitors and tourists”.

Pinellas Commissioner John Morroni says he is sensitive to citizen complaints about airport noise but is powerless to do much. Safety Harbor resident Lou Claudio has been complaining about airplane noise for years with little success
