Sports has dropped Chicago Blackhawks hockey player Patrick Kane as spokesperson for “Madden NHL 16” and removed the athlete from the game’s cover following sexual assault allegations against the hockey player. However, a statement released by EA Sports Wednesday, August 13, through its Twitter account has changed that.

The Chicago Blackhawks player is under police investigation after a woman accused Kane of sexually assaulting her, USA Today reported. The post also said he would not appear on the cover or as part of any other promotional activities.

Kane’s lawyer, Paul Cambria, and agent, Pat Brisson, did not return messages seeking comment. “At this point we’re hopeful and that’s about it. I’m not going to say anything more”.

The Buffalo News reports that the officer was with Kane the entire night until dropping him off at his suburban Hamburg home.

Police are looking into something that happened between Kane and a woman in her 20s, a person familiar with the investigation said earlier this week on condition of anonymity because authorities have not revealed that detail.

Although no charges have been filed, the probe is already affecting Kane.

The new cover features Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews, as opposed to the previous cover which featured both Toews and Kane.
