The newest model to be signed by Alfa Romeo is called the Giulia and it is now debuting at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show.
Lap times around the Nurburgring Nordschleife circuit do not tend to be verified by an independent body. Alfa is taking the unorthodox approach of selling only the top spec Quadrifoglio models, which feature a 510 horsepower twin turbo 2.9-liter V-6 developed in conjunction with Ferrari.
In a straight line, the Giulia can jump to 62 miles per hour in 3.9 seconds, while performance additions like a dual-clutch transmission and torque vectoring help the vehicle rip through laps on the race track.
Available with both a rear and four-wheel drive powertrain, the Giulia QV also reportedly emits less than 200g/km of Carbon dioxide and averages about 35mpg.
After being officially unveiled back in July, over the web, and making a huge fuzz with the company’s fans, the brand new Alfa Romeo Giulia is now on display, at the German automotive event, in a world premiere. The top speed is 191 miles per hour. It will eventually underpin most of Alfa Romeo’s upcoming lineup.
As previously reported, the platform of the Giulia is a new design. Underpinning the dynamic capabilities of the new Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio are its low kerb weight of just 1,524kg and ideal 50:50 weight distribution which are achieved by using ultralight materials including carbon fibre (prop shaft, bonnet, roof), aluminium (engine, brakes, suspension, front suspension turrets, rear subframe, doors, wings) and aluminium composite and plastic (rear crossmember). Carbon-fibre Sparco seats are also an option.
Drive is to the rear wheels only, via a six-speed manual. The Giulia will also offer a high-end Harmon Kardon sound system with a 12-channel amplifier and 14 speakers.
Connect 3D Nav also allows full connectivity with all mobile devices running Apple iOS and Android operating systems, while the navigation system employs high-resolution 3D TomTom maps and Dead Reckoning technology to compensate for areas with poor GPS reception.
It’s still not clear when we’ll see any Giulias in showrooms, but in Europe the auto is confirmed to go on sale in the fall of 2016.
The Giulia Quadrifoglio will be available in Competizione Red, Trofeo White, Vulcano Black, Vesuvio Grey and Montecarlo Blue.
