8-year-old girl goes missing in California beach town

Have you seen this missing child?: Madyson Middleton was reported missing at 6:00 pm from Tannery Arts Center where her mother lives.

Jordan said she’s looked at surveillance video from their housing complex that watched Madyson’s last minutes before she disappeared. We’re grateful for that.

Law enforcement is searching the woodland and park areas around the Tannery Arts Center and the river levee.

California Police are seeking public assistance in finding Mandy.

She was last seen riding her Razor Scooter and wearing a purple dress with black leggings, black flip-flops and a black helmet.

Update 10:45am: The Federal Bureau of Investigation, a California State OES canine unit and the Santa Cruz Sheriff’s Rescue team have been called in to help search for Maddy Middleton. But at about 5 p.m. her mother realized she was gone. “We will be doing a full search from the complex area where she went missing to the San Lorenzo River levee, down to the beach area”.

Investigators are following up on all possible leads to locate Madyson, also known as Maddy, Blaschke said. “We all should do everything we can to find this girl”, he said.

Madyson Middleton, 8, is seen in a photo provided by the Santa Cruz Police Department.

Police are asking anyone with information that can assist in helping safely locate Madyson, to please call 911 or contact Santa Cruz Police department at 831-471-1131. At a morning press conference, authorities said they consider this a “missing child” case not a kidnapping because no vehicle was seen that may have played a part in Maddy’s disappearance.

Community volunteers spent hours Sunday night scouring neighborhoods on their own in search of Maddy. Hundreds of posts appeared on the Take Back Santa Cruz Facebook page where residents shared their search efforts.
