The auto drove through the glass doors of the LifeStyleRx gym at 1119 E. Stanley Blvd. shortly after 8 a.m., police said.

Police are investigating the incident, but so far say it does not look like drugs or alcohol played a role.

Six people in were hurt when the SUV came barreling into the gym’s lobby area, including one who had life-threatening injuries, Rebeijo said.

The woman was trying to park her Mercedes SUV when she mixed up the pedals, crashing through the club’s doors and into an early-morning workout class about 45 miles east of San Francisco, Livermore police spokeswoman Traci Rebiejo said.

According to authorities, the 80-year-old woman driver crashed through the fitness center when the gas pedal was stuck.

One person has died and five other were injured Tuesday morning after an elderly driver inadvertently drove her auto through a gym in Livermore, police officials said.
