Jessica Alba Speaks Up, Defends Honest Company Against Sunscreen Controversy

The Honest Company was launched in 2012 by the Jessica Alba, children’s non-profit veteran Christopher Gavigan, serial entrepreneur Brian Lee and former executive at Pricegrabber Sean Kane.

In a letter on The Honest Company’s website, Alba and her co-founder write that they use the sunscreen on their own children, and that it has gone through extensive testing.

Jessica’s statement comes following complaints from customers who shared their sunburned pictures after using the company’s sunscreen, calling into questions the brand’s efficacy. An Honest Company spokeswoman had no immediate comment.

However, later on Monday, Honest did a U-turn, with founders Alba and Christopher Gavigan writing a blog post emphasizing their roles as parents and saying, “We are parents, too”.

People reported that the actress finally spoke up and defended their sunscreen product.

In another report by Daily Mail, Alba said that their sunscreen went through high standards of testing prior to its release. Our previous Sunscreen formulation had a 40-minute water resistance and customers told us that it didn’t apply as easily as they would’ve liked. This feedback was reportedly given by the customers.
